October 26, 2015 "blessed are they who will repent"

Tortilla: 28

As always, the work of the Lord is the most wonderful work!I feel so blessed to be able to see his miracles, no matter how big or small. He truly is working together with us. This week we also had changes, but the greatest blessing is only one companionship will be different.  We are all elders, and there is a very strong brotherhood among us.

Major Milagro:

So, on Monday we went to the store to buy our food for the week, and decided to buy some doughnuts to enjoy.  As we returned on the bus, there was a guy about our age sitting behind us who asked us if we could give him a doughnut.  We thought he was joking so we laughed a little bit, but then he asked again.  We then realized he was not joking, and we looked at each other kind of surprised.  So, I split mine in half and gave it to him.  He sat down and ate, and we soon began to talk to him.  We came to find out that he lived close by, and he started to ask us about who we were and about the church.  At this moment, the bus was arriving, so we wrote down his number and set a time to come visit.  The next day we went.  To our surprise he was very interested in finding which was the true church, and had been going to many to find, but still had not felt it.  The day that we met him was actually the day he was coming home after being away for 4 months.  We had a wonderful lesson and had many questions, when we finished, we invited him to church.  We then set a time to go visit him again before Sunday, but when we returned he was not home.  Then, on Saturday we were walking to an appointment and by happenstance we ran into him in the street!  He apologized for not being home, and nominated us to pass by for him to bring him to church the next morning.  To our surprise, when we passed by, he was ready to go!  I know that God wants all of his children to be lead to the truth of his gospel. I feel so blessed to be lead to them and to be able to be his messenger of this glorious gospel.

Testimony time:

One of the scriptures that I chose to memorize this week is found in Helaman 12:23, and it says;
Therefore, blessed are they who will repent and hearken unto the voice of the Lord their God; for these are they that shall be saved.

I feel like in the world that we live in today, the word, "repent" is not very well understood.  Many think of it as a bad thing, but it is actually a wonderful, beautiful thing.  It is the process by which with the help of God we change our lives to become more like him.  It is something that we all must do every day, and it is glorious!  There is nothing better than to be able to start each day new.  I love how in this scripture how it says we are "blessed".  It makes me think that the Lord is very pleased with us when we turn our hearts to him and want to change.  Just as Alma describes, we can feel such joy and light from repenting.  I always use the example of putting rocks in a backpack.  It weighs a lot and slows us down.  But, it is our choice if we want to remove the rocks and the weight through repentance.  I testify of the power of the atonement and that for almost anything we do, we can be clean.  Our Savior and Heavenly Father loves us and they always will, no matter what.  We can not be caught in Satans lies otherwise.  Jesus Christ is our Savior and he loves us and only through him can we be saved.  In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

P-Day Fun!
